The village is located in Rychnovsko in Eastern Bohemia and has 2,500 inhabitants. Kvasiny has all the necessary facilities and services, such as bus and railway stops, a post office, a general practitioner, preschool and elementary school, a public library, restaurants, lodging, and much more.
It will take you about 15 minutes by car to reach the nearby city of Rychnov nad Kněžnou (8 km) and a half an hour to reach the cities of Náchod (30 km) and Ústí nad Orlicí (33 km). If you leave Kvasiny heading towards Hradec Králové (41 km), you will reach the town in 45 minutes; if you drive for an hour, you can reach Pardubice (48 km).
In the area nearby you can find a tennis court, a football field and volleyball court, a bowling alley, a fitness club and also a hunting and fishing club. You can go for a bike ride, or also ride a horse. For a visit to the swimming pool, the spa, or the movies, one can simply go to Dobruška or Rychnov nad Kněžnou. The Adršpašské and Broumovsko-teplické cliffs are also well worth a visit. You can surf or go fishing at the largest damn in the Czech Republic, Rozkoš. And lovers of winter sports can look forward to getting to slopes of the Orlické mountains in under an hour by car. A trip to the Krkonoše moutnains will take you by Sněžka, whose peak can be seen from Kvasiny in clear weather.
All year round, concerts and exhibitions are held at the castle in Kvasiny. It is also certainly worth visiting the baroque castle in Rychnov nad Kněžnou, the renaissance castle in Opočno, and the castles in Litomyšl, Častolovice, Nové Hrady, Nové mětso nad Metují or the castles in the Kunětická mountain, Lichnice, Svojanov, or the historic hospital in Kuks. There is no lack of music festivals in Hradec Králové — Rock for People, AIR Festival, Hip Hop Kemp and Jazz Goes to Town are some of the most prominent. The theatre festivals Poláčkovo Summer and Jiráskův Hronov are also very well-known.
Even from the the gourmand’s point of view, Eastern Bohemia has a range of culinary specialities to offer. One should not miss out on the traditional podkrkonošské sauerkraut, gingerbread from Pardubice, or pavlišovský schnitzel. The network of breweries and craft breweries is also quite impressive. It’s worth tasting Náchod’s own Primátor, Pardubice’s Pernštejn, Hlinsko’s Rychtář, Rampušák from Dobruška, Medelšice’s lagers or Hradec Králové’s Rambousek.
For shopping, you can go to the regional cities, Hradec Králové and Pardubice, or to nearby Poland. Wroclaw is, for example, 150 kilometers away, with a half-hour drive to the border by car.
ŠKODA AUTO offers the possibility of partially-subsidized lodging to newly-recruited employees. These are single or double rooms with their own private bathrooms at the lodging house. For the period of the first year of employment, these cost only 1 500 kč a month.
ŠKODA AUTO has organize colective transportation by bus. These leave to and from Kvasiny at the end and beginning of every shift and head to these locations: Horní Čermná, Králíky, Hradec Králové, Svitavy, Pardubice and Litomyšl. There are also public lines available. Bus and train lines are located near the factory. The use of local carriers is dependent on their actual timetables (located at www.idos.cz).
