Part of the Trainee Program is the so-called dealership network experience. For three days, trainees join a ŠKODA AUTO dealership in a country where they speak the language–in my case, this meant that I went to A-Point in Amsterdam. A-Point Amsterdam is one of the largest ŠKODA AUTO dealerships in the Netherlands and a part of Pon Holdings, the exclusive Dutch importer of VW GROUP vehicles.
However, regardless of where or with whom you complete your dealer internship, you start with the so-called showroom experience. The showroom experience is a two-day training during which I got to know ŠKODA’s product portfolio inside out. In addition, I also learned about the theory behind the complete customer experience process, from the moment a potential client enters the dealership to –hopefully– a successful sale.
My brief internship at A-Point Amsterdam was divided between sales and aftersales. Because I was working on ŠKODA Connect at the time, I was able to help customers make the most of the many connectivity features that new ŠKODA vehicles have. I also shared some insights on new digital developments in ŠKODA. Our smartphones are going to play an ever-more important role in how we use our vehicles, and believe me when I say that we are working on lots of exciting stuff!
The dealer internship is a great opportunity to get close to the customer. Did you know, for example, that Fabia Combi and Octavia Combi are some of the most popular ŠKODA cars in the Netherlands? I did not. Kodiaq and Karoq are in high demand too.
“Many people in the Netherlands demand value –and space– for their money. And I think we can all agree that it’s hard to beat ŠKODA when it comes to that.”
During my three days at A-Point Amsterdam, I learned a lot about what it takes to sell a car. From welcoming customers with a smile to giving them honest advice about the cars, financing and whatever other questions they might have, the ŠKODA mission, vision and values travel from Mladá Boleslav all over the world throughout the whole organization. And that, if you ask me, is a big reason why so many people –in the Netherlands and elsewhere– choose ŠKODA.
The dealer internship is a great example of why I think the ŠKODA AUTO Trainee Program is such an interesting opportunity for fresh graduates. As a trainee, you get to see everything that the company does – from being on the production line during the first week of the Program all the way to handing over the car to the customer. If you want to start your career in automotive or are excited by the possibilities that the Trainee Program offers, applications for the September intake are open until the end of July. Hope to see you soon at ŠKODA!
