Be there when we come up with smart solutions. When we develop electromobility. When we make life easier for the people around us.
I passed the first stages of the application process and was invited to the Assessment Centre. It was my first experience with a group interview format: I was madly worried, but a meeting in the Pub before the AC with current Trainees helped me calm down. The next day, I passed the AC! I remember thinking: “Wow, this is the beginning of a new stage of my life”.
Here I was, at the verge of ending an exciting Internship at ŠKODA AUTO, as well as my graduate studies. It is always intense to close a chapter of your life: uncertainty becomes your best friend, especially for your career. I wanted to do something unique, getting the experience and insights of working in any field – I needed to clear my head, and really choose my future. All seemed dire, but that’s when I came across the ŠKODA Trainee Programme.
Monday: My alarm clock is ringing. It’s time for the office grind: the Trainee journey is starting! After arriving to EKF department (Vehicle safety – side impacts) and meeting my mentor, I got tasks for the next week – all related to the project I’m part of – we’re off to a great start! I’ll have to ask my colleagues for some pointers but I can’t wait to get more experience. We’ll see how it goes.
To be a Trainee at ŠKODA is unique – once a year you go to explore ŠKODA partner showrooms in importing countries. The placement lasts for three days and helps you discover processes running at the dealer’s side (this “black box” where cars disappear and money appears!). Also you can talk to real customers, understand their needs and motivation and become simply more clever in automotive.
Jakub and his classmates were pioneers of the young generation in the Paint Shop. He was visiting high schools with recruiters and shared with apprentices his experience. This may be the reason why there are candidates interested in high school practice. And that is a good thing. This way, they can find the best candidate who can join the Paint Shop after graduation.
We, Trainees, are usually keen to do more than just learn about the company as to find our final position. We have been fortunate to follow the previous Trainee´s steps and since September 2017, we have got the opportunity to join the Trainee Project regarding CSR, which obviously cooperates closely with Skoda’s CSR department. For almost 12 months, we have been working towards supporting Skoda’s CSR efforts and, more importantly, contributing towards a better Czech Republic.
