Škoda IT

Our IT department knows very well that what is advanced today will be outdated tomorrow. That’s why we constantly develop new and better solutions.

IT work is built on unique projects. Whether it's the development of electric vehicles, where we continually push the boundaries of the automotive industry, or work with virtual reality, where we are among European technological leaders. The footprints of Škoda IT can be found in almost every department—from technical development to production, sales, and employee care.

Technical Development

From the first sketch to the final tests. That’s how we would summarize the work of technical development, which plays a crucial role in the creation of every new Škoda Auto model.

At the heart of the department are teams of passionate professionals dedicated to each phase of vehicle development. Whether it’s the initial brief, planning, design, concept development, or the final crash tests and various trials, we always use the most advanced methods and technologies.

Engineering

This department is responsible for ensuring the smooth production of every vehicle. It all starts with the logistics of materials, parts, and components and ends with their assembly. But that’s not all. We design and implement new technologies to bring vehicle electronics to life, transfer insights from extensive analyses into car assembly, or even into a new paint shop. We pride ourselves on using the best technologies and continuously create new positions that cover a wide range of opportunities across various fields.

Stories from Škoda IT

VRUT 2.0: Another Step Toward Digitalizing Development

Imagine you work in marketing and need to create visuals for a new advertising campaign. Or you're focused on ergonomics and want to verify that all dashboard controls are truly within the driver’s reach. Maybe you're dealing with assembly processes on the production line and need to be sure technicians can install a new part without difficulty. Škoda Auto employees can now use VRUT 2.0 for all these tasks – an innovative software solution that's changing the way the company works with virtual reality. How was this tool developed, what problems does it solve, and in which direction will it develop in the future? We spoke with the people behind the project – Leoš Červený, Antonín Míšek, and Roman Piekník – to find out.

From Dozens of Servers to Just One

Two GPU farms operate in Škoda Auto’s data center – each housing dozens of graphics cards that provide the computing power needed for vehicle development. With their help, Miroslav Machač and his team enable colleagues from various Škoda Auto departments to visualize data. The GPU farms make it possible to create photorealistic car models, marketing visuals, and prototypes on which designers and developers can run essential tests and make decisions. “You wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between a visualization generated with our hardware and a real photograph,” says the experienced IT Delivery Manager.

Making work better (not just) for women

The Women@Work employee group isn’t just for women – and definitely not only about them. It covers a wide range of topics including work–life balance, age management, career support for parents, and more. Most importantly, it offers a space for sharing, listening, and even forming friendships beyond work. Three members of the organizing team – Jana Rakouská, Veronika Nýdrová, and Tereza Navrátilová – shared their personal experiences with us. How did they come across Women@Work? What kind of activities are they preparing for employees? And what do these regular meetups mean to them?

"Škoda encourages its employees to actively educate themselves. At the same time, you also get access to technological innovations that you can test and see if they are worth implementing in the Škoda Auto environment."
