SAP ILM Consultant (m/w)

We are SAP services delivery team supporting our internal and external customers with data lifecycle processes, compliance, GDPR and other personal data protection regulations in the entire VW Group.

To meet the growing demand for professional data management solutions, we are looking for a Mid level to Senior SAP ILM Consultant who will take on key roles in the analysis, design, and implementation of 

ILM solutions.

What will you do?

• Lead or independently deliver end to end SAP ILM initiatives (Retention Management, Residence, Blocking, Deletion, Legal Hold).
• Work with SAP data archiving (ADK, SARA), including concept design, configuration, and testing.
• Translate GDPR and other regulatory requirements (e.g., ePrivacy, CCPA) into technical and process measures within SAP environments.
• Collaborate with IT security, legal, application owners, and business teams on data flow mapping, data classification, and risk management.
• Integrate ILM with archiving solutions (ILM Store — e.g., OpenText or other SAP supported repositories, ArchiveLink, or DVM).
• Create documentation (functional/technical specifications), prepare audit materials, and support training and handover to operations.
• Participate in international projects and work closely with cross functional technology teams.

What you need to have or know?

• Min.Bachelor’s degree.
• English at C1 level (professional working proficiency).
• German at B1 level (advantage).
• Minimum 5 years of hands on experience with SAP ILM in production environments.
• ABAP knowledge.
• Practical experience with SAP data archiving (ADK, SARA); experience with OpenText/SAP ILM Store is a plus.
• Understanding of GDPR principles and best practices for personal data protection in SAP; knowledge of additional global regulations is an advantage.
• Willingness to travel within the EU approx. 2–4 days/month, occasionally outside the EU.
• Category B driving license.
• Experience from at least two IT projects, ideally international, covering either full end to end delivery or key project phases.
• Independence, structured approach to work, clear communication, and strong consulting mindset.
