Technical Development

From the first sketch to the final tests. That’s how we would summarize the work of technical development, which plays a crucial role in the creation of every new Škoda Auto model.

At the heart of the department are teams of passionate professionals dedicated to each phase of vehicle development. Whether it’s the initial brief, planning, design, concept development, or the final crash tests and various trials, we always use the most advanced methods and technologies.

Engineering

This department is responsible for ensuring the smooth production of every vehicle. It all starts with the logistics of materials, parts, and components and ends with their assembly. But that’s not all. We design and implement new technologies to bring vehicle electronics to life, transfer insights from extensive analyses into car assembly, or even into a new paint shop. We pride ourselves on using the best technologies and continuously create new positions that cover a wide range of opportunities across various fields.

Production

Production is one of the key departments at Škoda Auto. Without it, none of our models would come to life – whether it’s the electric ENYAQ, the new OCTAVIA, or the KAROQ SUV.

Škoda's modern production plants are not only in Mladá Boleslav but also in Kvasiny and Vrchlabí. Each factory provides a clean and highly modern environment, where automation is seamlessly combined with the precise work of our employees. Our people are always our top priority, and while we use many automated machines in production, the human element remains the most important.

Stories from the world of technology

We Manage Relationships Between Systems, Processes, People, and Data

You might think that at Škoda Auto there is one big system in which everything happens. In reality, there are many different systems, and the relationships between them resemble a complicated maze. Daniela Prskavcová and her team map and maintain that maze. “A single small system change can trigger a cascade effect that could eventually threaten production. So, if we want to make any changes at all, we need to know all the processes and their interdependencies inside out,” she explains. How do you avoid getting lost in such a maze?

Internship Training Opens the Door to Low-Code Development

Vojtěch Mišútka wasn’t originally headed for a career in IT. That changed when he started his first internship at Škoda Auto. He was drawn to a training program focused on Microsoft Power Platform, the environment where low-code applications are built. Vojtěch quickly fell in love with these tools and began studying them in his free time as well. Today, he works at the Digitalization Delivery Center for Production, where his ideas help make everyday work easier for colleagues across the entire company.

From High-Tech Robotics to Mouse Traps in Our New Hall

When he was fifteen, Martin Bígl took a summer job in a warehouse of a Škoda Auto supplier. At that time, logistics mainly consisted of pallets, trucks and forklift trucks. After graduating from university, Martin Bígl joined the carmaker – and was amazed by how much the field of logistics had changed. This time, he moved into the logistics planning department, where he focuses on process automation and the development of highly automated halls. What does he enjoy most about his work? “We build solutions that make our work easier and earn recognition both within the company and beyond.”

"You enter Mladá Boleslav, just a small town, but a whole world opens up to you."
